CertiMaC is a Research and Technology Transfer laboratory located in Parco Torricelli of Faenza. Founded by CNR and ENEA – the two main actors of scientific research in Italy – CertiMaC is at all effect independent in developing its turnover and offers a wide range of services related to R&D, characterisation and certification for traditional and innovative materials and components. CertiMaC offers industrial research services, specialistic consultancy, analysis and laboratory tests to increase the performance and to foster the engineering of materials and components in different fields: Construction, Circular Economy, Energy Management, Mechanics, Automotive, Mobility and Aerospace.

It is an Accredited Laboratory of Emilia-Romagna High Technology Network and member of Clust-ER Build and Clust-ER Greentech. It constantly cooperates with national and international networks and it is part of ECTP and of the EIP on Raw Materials. It plays an active role at EU level, as Notified Body n°2685 according to Reg. CPR (EU) 305/11. It works under ISO/IEC 17025 and it’s certified according to ISO 9001:2015. As a member of EU Steering Committees at CEN, it works in the processes of Development and Validation of methodologies for testing freeze/thaw and weathering resistance.

Role in the project:

CertiMaC is the coordinator of Phase 3 within the Project: “Materials characterization in expected working conditions”. The activities will be aimed at characterizing the thermo-physical properties, such as: thermal conductivity, specific heat and thermal diffusivity up to 1250°C. Moreover also the investigation of thermo-mechanical properties varying the temperature between -80 and 220° C will be a topic of research and experimental development on the innovative composite materials core of the project. Furthermore, FEM (Finite Element Method) thermal modeling of the solutions in operating conditions will be addressed in order to predict the engineering of the solutions and foster the scale-up. The results will be analyzed in terms of performance, in relation to the applications and the current regulatory framework, in order to increase the applicability of the solutions, reducing the time-to-market and raising the repercussions in favor of the regional supply chain.
